Two FFL Dealers with the identical name

I tried to add an FFL dealer in VA with the identical name as an FFL dealer in LA. Clicking on "Check FFL" filled the form, but when I tried to save the second dealer I got a "Name is already in use" and it would not let me save it. I had to add an extra space between two words in the name. Any other solution to this problem?

Thank you for your post, the reason for the delay in your response, Coloseum was looking into this matter. AIMI will allow the same Name for a FFL dealer but will report if there are 2 identical serial numbers to a Name. If you are reporting your application is only allowing the use of a single name, please report back to us specifically the steps in order to report this.

Do you mean two identical FFL numbers to a FFL name? I can see problems if a a unique key is generated on the FFL's name and not some unique incrementing value. I'm sure this is not what was done here. Anyway, I guess I don't understand the response.

The system will still not let you put in a new FFL dealer with the same name as another. An example is Cabela's. There are several Cabela's around the country with the same name on the FFL, but a different FFL number specific to their location. When you go to the "add new" dealer and put in the FFL number and click "Check FFL" the new location will populate the form, but when you try to save that new dealer the system will not allow the save saying the name already exists.

Thank you for your feedback, we have changed this field. In the next update coming out in 2 weeks it is by FFL number only.

Awesome! Depending on the architecture of the underlying db/program, this might have been a large change to make. I'm sure it will solve many problems down the road as the program continues to grow and evolve. Thanks Colosum Programmers! (Oh, and David ROCKS!)
